Weekly meditation

We meet on Sunday evenings from 6.30 to 8.15 in the shrine room of the Sakyamuni Buddhist Centre, 32 Archibald Street, Lyneham. Directions to our meeting place are available on the Contact Us Page.

We begin with 30 minutes loving kindness practice, followed by 30 minutes of walking and then 30 minutes of sitting in the insight meditation tradition of Mahasi Sayadaw. After this there is some time for questions or discussion.

New people are invited to join on the first Sunday of every month.

The fourth Sunday of the month is Tea Sunday. The program begins with chanting and walking practice, then we sit for thirty minutes. After this we have a cup of tea together.

Instruction for meditation is offered freely but a donation to the Temple who generously offer us a place to practise is encouraged.

Copies of the chanting we do every week are available here. Please print out and bring a copy with you.

Bring your own cushions or kneeling bench with you.

Modest clothing is the norm in traditional temples. If you are more comfortable in Australian styles of clothing (shorts, short skirts, low cut tops) please consider bringing a shawl.
